The Fourth Kind

This movie set my heart racing. I don't care what you believe when it comes to extra-terrestrials, if this movie is accurately based on true events, as it seems to be, than it really is shocking. I read the NASA sight, I'm familiar with Carl Sagan and his logical and reasonable explanations as to why UFO's do not exist.  I'm also aware that it is not easy to prove and definitely seems a bit extreme, but I'm not so big to think we're the only life in the universe. What really gets me in this movie is that the force seems evil.  It had ill-intentions and spoke in Sumerian.
Carl and I have seen UFO's twice in the past three weeks. The first time was around January 28th. We were standing on our back porch looking at the sky, which was mostly overcast, when we noticed a red light to the southeast. There were three of them hovering in a triangle, not moving through the sky. It was an odd sight. About two weeks later, I believe February 9th, it was back. We were on the back porch at 7:00pm, the same time as the first experience when we noticed it. The sky was very overcast, you couldn't see any stars or planes or satellites but you could see the lights. This time there was one red light that stayed in place and then started dropping objects. It dropped five or six glistening white lights that fell straight down, in timed order and then disappeared. A few minutes later the red light was gone.

Turns out the incident was on the news.

I wonder if we'll have more UFO sightings reported in 2011 and 2012?  Also, if you have the History channel you should watch a mini-series they're doing called "Ancient Aliens".  It's fascinating.

I just found out they did another story on it in our local news this morning.  Here is the link for that story.

I'm not sure about the news story.  If they had been Chinese lanterns you would of seen them go up and come down and you wouldn't have seen them through the clouds.  If they were toy airplanes they would of been moving differently around the sky.  And last but not least, why did we see the same thing on two different nights, several weeks apart that were in the exact same place in the sky?  Same direction and same elevation.

An active day

My Uncle is just like my Grandfather.  Both fighters for what they believe in.  I'm very proud to be a direct relative.  We need more people willing to stick their neck out for the greater good.

My Uncle calls me tonight to update me on a situation he's involved with in Washington.  He is going head-to-head with the University of Washington and the Union, which he is a part of. He is about to reveal an entire ladder of corruption and deceit. Listening to him on the phone, he sounds just like my Gramps.  It makes me laugh and it makes me proud.

Both my Uncle and my Grandfather have educated themselves to the point of expertise in their fields.  Both have stood up to massive entities, both help the average layman, attorneys, judges, anyone who has a need for what they know and both have been 100% relentless in their pursuits.

Its been an active day.  It's hard to see people you love in pain.  My father in-law was recently in an accident that has left him unable to move about.  We thought he was doing better but he came over today hardly able to move.  This man never admits pain.  He's afraid we'll make him slow down.  Now we'll have to force him to slow down, which I believe to be a good thing.  No one should work their entire lives.

I also received a letter from my cousin this afternoon.  That always brings me joy, mixed with a little heartache.  He is doing better and seems to have a more positive outlook on life and in himself.  It's more the history and pathology that makes me sad.  How he ended up in the place he's at.  I have faith in his success and believe he'll make it through the trials he is facing.  Looking forward to when that day comes when we find ourselves with a couple fishing reels in a lake and a beer in our hand.

New Music

I've been listening to a lot of good music lately.  I'm enjoying it so much I thought I would share some of the titles so others might enjoy it as well.

The Black Keys "Brothers"
Arcade Fire "The Suburbs"
Iron and Wine "Kiss each other clean"

Arcade Fire is up for album of the year, it's the first time an indie group has ever accomplished this. "Brothers" is awesome!  The Iron and Wine album is more mellow but I've enjoyed it.  Great lyrics.  All three of these albums are good through and through, not just for a few songs.

Pride

Pride is a tough emotion to swallow.  At times a person must set their pride aside in order to survive.  There are periods of immense struggle in all our lives.  Some experience longer durations than others.  Whether you are struggling or getting by relatively smoothly, try and give back.  It comes around.  Do what you can to help your brother. Not for retribution, not for some form of payback or guilt but because you can.  And hope that when the day comes when you're struggling someone will watch out for you as well.  If everyone gave just little more than they received we could live a more peaceable existence.  Greed has caused our downfall, let compassion and empathy spur our success.

Wool

Carl and I have this thing about the T.V.  He loves it.  I hate it.  He could spend the predominant part of his day and night watching T.V.  I want to knock it over and stomp on it until it’s a big pile of crumbs.  Almost did one time.  I picked up a 27’’ screen, one of the old ones with the fat rear end, carried it out to our porch and set it on the railing 15 feet above the ground.  I made my point and the T.V suffered no injuries.
He told me tonight that the day he sees me spooling wool is the day he gets rid of the T.V.  What he doesn’t realize is that he just gave me the biggest inspiration possible to learn to shear, comb, spin, and utilize wool.  Granted, it may take me a month or two, or three, hell maybe all summer but I’ll figure it out.  Never have I had a way to get him to agree to freely give up the T.V.  I mean, I could have pitched a fit, gotten all emotional, maybe thrown a few guilt trips and tempers but why do that?  I don’t want to take away something he loves unwillingly.  Nah, free will though, that’s a different story.

People Can Change!

Even when you don't think it's possible, that it's just out of their scope to be any different than how they how, they just might surprise you! Believe in change.  It's the only permanent aspect of life.

Time and again I've been proved wrong.  Once I finally accepted that someone was never going to change, I adjusted my own outlook to include them in my life, or not in my life.  And then... they changed!  Was it that my own perception of their personality shifted once I fully accepted them for who they were, not wishing for anything different?  Or can you really teach an old dog new tricks?  Probably both.

There is this fine line between loving someone and accepting who they are, faults and assets combined, having no desire for them to be any other way, and then seeing their potential and inspiring them to live up to it.  I don't think that is changing who they are, it's helping them to become better people.  I would hope they return the favor.  In the course of trying to per sway them to change, you may beat your head against that brick fall a few dozen times, but in the end it's worth it.  Because one day that individual will progress and realize that you just wanted the best for them; to feel better about themselves.

For me, witnessing that change is great inspiration. It restores my faith in human nature and in turn inspires me to strive for more.  You have to be that change you wish to see in this world. (Gandhi) And in my experience the best way to do that is to lead by example.

Thank you to all those people who have made me believe.

6 Hours Later

Communication breakdowns.  Ever had one of those?  I've recently had quite a few.  I wanted to share the situation but most of the outlets in my life just weren't going to cut it.  So I had this great idea.  Start a blog!  Six hours later, here I am.

I like to write.  I've kept journals most of my life.  Its been my chosen release since I was a young girl.  Anxiety, stress, doubts, ideas... any time I had too much going on in my head I would write, and it helped.  I got to thinking.  Why not share my thoughts?  Gets some constructive criticism, exchange ideas, share pictures and goals.  Maybe then my writing will serve some purpose.  The nice thing about a blog is I don't have to apologize for my words.  Or try and explain them anymore than I want to.  If you don't like it then don't read it!

I do not consider myself well educated.  I know enough to get by and I'm always learning but you'll have to excuse my ignorance at times.  I tend to ramble and can be rather repetitive.

There is another reason for this blog.  I preferred it be anonymous but I also prefer not to maintain two blogs.  I need to vent but I also want to share my life.  Our life.  My partner and I.  What we are doing is not a new concept, what we dream and strive towards not that complex or cutting edge but he wants me to share it and so I shall.

We want freedom from the chains that have been strapped around us since childhood, personal self-reliance, a more simplistic way of life filled with gratifying work. Every aspect our lives is directed towards the pursuit of this dream.  The great part is that it's happening.  Right now.  Not in the way I first expected but in the way it needs to be done.  The best things worth having are never easy to acquire.  It takes time, patience, perseverance and strength.  And even then you may not be there.

After years of impatience and running in circles I've found myself right where I wish to be.  Looking down a road filled with potential and opportunity.  Everything I wanted has sort of presented itself in this bold package and been dangled in front of me.  I just had to stop tripping over my own two feet and reach for it.

Not really the best analogy but the best I could do.  It's an opportunity and will take patience and hard work to acquire, it hasn't been given to us.  I need to make that clarification.  We're towards the end of the first stage, building a strong foundation.  The pieces have been provided and now we're placing them in order.
